Affordable Professional
Switching Component Switching. A
sweet dream for many, since an 8-input component
switcher easily costs tens of thousands of
dollars. Not anymore. NewTek brings you VT[3]’s
integrated, flexible, easy-to-use switcher. Anyone
who’s ever run a switcher will feel right at home
with this on-screen device. In combination with
the SX-8 switcher module, this video mixer is
capable of seamlessly inputting and switching
dizzying array of sources:
- 8 Component inputs
- 8 Y/C inputs
- up to 24 composite inputs
- Unlimited DV inputs
- Unlimited DDR inputs
There is full support of
uncompressed ITU-601 switching in either PAL or
NTSC, and the inputs can be a mix of any signal
type, with genlock, time-base correction and Proc
Amp control provided for each input. This saves
tremendous time and money for live production.
Preview, Program and Key rows operate just as any
other switcher. Fire up a trio of Toaster Vision
monitors onscreen, and you now have a fulltime
view of each row’s inputs. Camera inputs, deck
inputs, or digitized Toaster clips are all ready
to be called up on the switcher. The ouput can go
as live A/V show support, or be streamed around
the world while you switch.
An efficient workflow is
critical, so many of the important modules are now
combined into a single interface using tabs, so
you can quickly access the Effects bin, Proc Amp
controls, the live keyer or the Background
Generator all within the switcher. VT[3] also
allows you to rename switcher inputs to anything
descriptive of either the shot or the camera
operator.
Tight integration between
Switcher and DDR means that clips can be cued in
Preview, and the instant they go on air, the DDR
rolls. A built-in videotape operator will
frame-accurately pause and play captured media
with other inputs. When Cue is enabled, Switcher
can even automatically transition back to the
source selected on the preview row as you near the
out point of the clip in the DDR. This 'auto'
transition will complete at the exact out point
assigned to the DDR clip.
Hotkeys When
managing a live production, reaction time is
essential. VT® [2] lets the Technical Director
keep an eye on the show and keep things moving by
allowing transitions using the mouse or keyboard
shortcuts or hotkeys. There are actually a large
number of switcher commands linked to keyboard
hotkeys. By turning on the CapsLock key, you’re
telling the VT® that the Switcher now has keyboard
priority. NumLock key on tells the VT® that you
will be loading the DVE by its numeric
identification.
Effects When
planning your project, you can pre-load any of
more than 300 effects on the switcher. A tap of
the keyboard space bar and your video or still
transitions to the program row. Each effect can be
previewed in the file bin or on the switcher by
simply moving the cursor over it. As NewTek did
with the classic VT® more than a decade ago, there
is a graphic definition assigned to each. Many of
the DVE’s incorporate real time reflections,
refraction, or warping. Here are but a few of the
hundreds of effects that Toaster editors will be
able to run out of the box:
Whether for live Internet
switching, keying, pre-production or punching a
live show, VT® [2] addresses your needs with
elegance and simplicity. |
