Capture in VT[3] is flexible and
fast. Capture audio and video in uncompressed RTV,
uncompressed AVI, DV, or with any installed
compression codec. The module itself is as
friendly as a VCR, with Pause, Stop and Record
buttons. Capture’s integrated file bin lets you
navigate to the folder you wish to save in, and
the time code, audio meters and drive space
displays let you closely monitor the digitizing
progress. Key features include:
- Frame-accurate capture, batch capture, and
re-capture of either analog or DV sources
- Per-frame timecode support, even across
breaks in timecode
- Capture multiple DV sources simultaneously
to disk
- Automatically insert clips into either
VT-Edit or DDR for instant playback
- Compatible with CMX, Grass Valley, Sony and
comma-delimited edit lists
NewTek’s integrated Batch capture
module provides accurate results, as every frame
is polled for its timecode stamp, providing
correct data even when there is a break in
timecode data.
The optional SX-8, provides as
many as 24 composite inputs to choose from. And
you can select any of them for capture. Whether
you wish to capture highly compressed streams or
pristine, online-quality uncompressed video, the
integrated deck preset panel lets you remember
numerous settings for each device. Later, the same
EDL and deck can re-acquire with a different codec
or quality level.
If there is a need to burn titles
or layer graphics, you can do that during capture
by choosing to record Program Out as your capture
source. In fact, any live event being switched can
be captured direct-to-disk with VT[3].
Timed input allows direct
snapshots from one frame to minutes for each press
of the Record button. This can be used in
conjunction with the Time Lapse function for
incredible stop-motion effects or elegantly
natural time-lapse photography with just a camera
or deck. Capture will let you change filename,
change record folders, even create a new folder
while the capture continues uninterrupted.
VT[3] is tightly integrated
across all modules, and Capture shows this when
you click a Record button in either DDR or
VT-Edit. DDR will let you simultaneously capture
to a folder, and stack clips directly into DDR as
they are captured. Set the Timed option for one
frame, and now you can instantly have a whole
series of stills ready for playback using
Switcher. VT-Edit is also linked to capture, and
any stills or clips captured are instantly
inserted at the time bar’s location in your
project. The one most expensive commodity you have
is your time, and Capture lets you make the most
of it.
Captures of digital video are
recorded without any recompression, copying the DV
clips to disk with byte-for-byte accuracy in real
time. Even more impressive is VT[3]’s ability to
capture several DV streams simultaneously, making
multi-cam production faster to work with. When
storage space is at a premium, you can also
capture high-quality analog signals, such as
uncompressed component streams as DV clips in
real-time. |
